Burial

Burials can take place at a pet cemetery, on public or private land. The legality of these burial options can vary greatly from city to city and state to state so check your local laws.

Cremation

Methods of Cremation

Flame cremation is the heating process that reduces animal remains to bone fragments by combustion and evaporation. ²

Non-Flame cremation known as aquamation involves the dissolving of your pet in a liquid for several hours.

Types of Cremation

The remains of only one animal are placed in the cremation chamber at a time. ¹

Only one pet is placed in the cremation chamber at a time and cremated. This process allows for no cremains to co-mingle during the cremation. Each pet’s cremains are returned to the pet owner or guardian.

The remains from multiple animals are in the cremation chamber without any form of separation or identification during the cremation process. ¹

Several pets are placed in the cremation chamber and cremated at one time. This process allows for the co-mingling or mixing of cremated remains. The cremains are to be disposed of in a dignified manner; you must ask your cremation provider what their policy is for a dignified disposal. “Scattered in the desert or in a mountain area.” is not an appropriate answer.

The remains of each animal are separated and placed in a mapped location in the cremation chamber during the cremation procedure. ¹

More than one pet is placed in the cremation chamber and cremated at the same time separated only by space. This process allows for the possibility that some of the cremains will co-mingle. Each pet’s individual cremated remains are returned to the pet owner or guardian.
